Emergency Room Advocacy
The Artemis House provides emergency room advocacy for survivors of rape, sexual assault and domestic violence who are being treated at Regional Health – Spearfish and Regional Health – Lead/Deadwood Hospital emergency rooms. Trained advocates are available to offer crisis intervention, support, information and assistance before, during and after medical procedures. They are there to listen, believe, and protect.
The advocate can provide information about health concerns and examinations, the criminal justice system and trauma services. The advocate can also assist in linking the survivors to on-going services offered by Victims of Violence Intervention Programs and the Artemis House shelter.
Emergency room advocacy is available 24 hours/365 days a year. It is confidential, provided at no cost, and can be accessed by calling 605 642-7825 or notifying an emergency room nurse.
