Downtown Friday Nights in Spearfish are a great way to spend a summer evening and we are so thankful to be able to have this opportunity to increase awareness about the services we provide. Special thanks to those who are available at our booth to answer questions and share our message! Our visibility and education efforts are even more effective with the help of redesigned brochures, a new banner, and some promotional items to spread our message and contact information. These items were purchased with funds from the Impact Award we received from 100 Women Who Care About Spearfish. We have some fun games and prizes for the kiddos so come on down to DFN through August!
Sending a big thank you to Spearfish Countryside Church and their Compassion Projects which is implementing an Artemis House Supply Drive during June. This will help restock the paper products that we use on a daily basis. We appreciate your generosity!
We are so grateful for those who like, follow, and share our message on Facebook and Instagram! Thank you for helping us amplify our voice!
We are grateful for the support of the Spearfish ZONTA chapter which presented the Artemis House with a lovely donation this morning! The grant will be used to help fund our 24-hour confidential hotline - a critical service for our community. Thank you, ZONTA!
Thank you, United Methodist Church for selecting the Artemis House to benefit from your Spring Time Tea which will be held on May 4. Thanks!
So happy that the Spearfish Sasquatch Baseball team will help the Artemis House at their June 21 game. We will receive a portion of ticket sales, operate a 50/50 raffle, and have a chance to spread awareness about our mission! Ticket sales online beginning April 15.
100+ Women Who Care About Spearfish is such an awesome organization and we are thankful they are in our community. At their spring event, 100+ Women voted to present their $10,000 Impact Award to the Food Pantry, an organization which serves some of the same families as the Artemis House does. The second place Impact Award (with a generous cash prize, as well) went to Big Brothers/Big Sisters - another great nonprofit which benefits those who receive our services. We appreciate all that this organization does to help those in need.
We are grateful to be able to work with BHSU students and staff to identify potentially under-served populations in our service area. Thank you for your awesome assistance!
We have some individual donors who mail or drop off a check for the Artemis House every month. This consistent giving is the key to our donation program and we are so very appreciative for that support. Recurring donations can also be set up from our website by clicking HERE . You can donate from a credit card or bank account as an automatic payment on a monthly, quarterly, or annual basis. Any amount is appreciated!
So. Much. Snow. This winter! We sincerely appreciate the help clearing the snow from our sidewalks and parking area. Thank you, Tammy and Steve!
Some individuals/families stay in a violent home environment because they are concerned that the abuser might hurt their family pet(s) if they flee. We are so very grateful for the Western Hills Humane Society, which works with us to provide a safe temporary home for the four-legged family members of those we serve. Thank you for this wonderful service!
Thank you to the BHSU Rotaract Club for donating proceeds from their Corn Hole Bean Bag Toss competition to the Artemis House! We love partnering with our college friends and organizations.
We love to increase awareness of the services offered by Victims of Violence Intervention Programs/Artemis House Shelter and tell our community about our mission. That is why we appreciate invitations to speak to community groups. This month, we had a chance to address our friends from the Kiwanis Club!
What a great and fun-fundraising series of raffles are planned for the next 4 months! The Fire and Iron Motorcycle Club has partnered with the B&B Bar in Spearfish to benefit the Artemis House, and what a great group of people to work with. We appreciate all you do!
We LOVE our Board of Directors and are grateful that everyone of them extended their volunteer service on our Board at this month's meeting!
Our wonderful volunteers help us in so many way! This month, a BHSU volunteer spent an afternoon making Christmas decorations with those who are currently staying in our shelter. We all enjoyed spending time together and creating something beautiful and fun!
Immensely grateful to the 100+ Women Who Care About Spearfish group which awarded the Artemis House this year's $10,000 Impact Award! WOW! What an honor! We will use the funds for upgrades at our shelter and to expand/enhance our awareness/education campaign so that more people know what we do and how to reach us. Thank you 100+ Women!
Artemis House staff and clients are very grateful for the generosity of the Crow Peak Longbeards and the National Turkey Foundation for providing a fabulous Thanksgiving dinner and all the trimmings!
October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month (DVAM) and the support from our community gave us so much to be thankful for! City Mayors in Spearfish and Deadwood signed proclamations which recognized DVAM in their cities. Businesses in our service area posted window clings announcing DVAM to help raise awareness, special educational talks were presented, and people throughout our service area declared "NO MORE" excuses for domestic violence. To the individuals, businesses, and cities, Artemis House says Thank You!
We are thankful to be one of the agencies supported by the United Way of the Black Hills. This month kicks off their annual fundraiser which runs through December!
Wow! Excited to receive a donation check from Spread the Tunes, following a concert in the part this summer. Thank you!
What a great month of community support we've had! Starting off with partnering with the Spearfish Sasquatch baseball team which donated part of the ticket sales proceeds from the final game of the season to the Artemis House, and letting us run a 50/50 raffle during the game. The team has been generously supporting local local nonprofits all season long and we certainly appreciate the opportunity to raise awareness and some funds which help us provide critical services to the residents of Butte, Harding, and Lawrence counties.
Riding Towards Harmony
Artemis House received tremendous support from a fabulous high energy country-rock band - the Crazy Woman Creek Band, local businesses, motorcycle riders, volunteers, and community members who joined us on August 9 for the first annual Riding Towards Harmony poker run and benefit concert fundraising event. A special thanks to our DIAMOND Sponsor- the F.L. Clarkson Family Foundation and Pioneer Bank and Trust, which provided $500, and our RUBY sponsors: Spearfish Forest Products, Inc, Ketel Thorstensen, LLP, and Jackson Dental, and our EMERALD sponsors: First Interstate Bank, Williams and Associates Architecture, Inc., and Prestige Auto.
We also want to thank restaurants which donated gift cards which were sold to benefit the Artemis House: Killians, Leones Creamery, Steerfish Steak and Smoke, Deadwood Social Club, Maverick's Steakhouse, Gem Steakhouse, and Deadwood Grille. Other businesses also supported our event with gifts, gift cards, hotel stays, and cash donations: Mineral Palace - Deadwood, Holiday Inn - Spearfish, Springhill Suites - Deadwood, Anytime Fitness, The Office Emporium - Belle Fouche, and The Olive Branch- Belle Fouche, and Legacy Investments.
And sending a HUGE thank you to our wonderful volunteers, staff, board members and all those who rode, listened, danced, and enjoyed the day. Thank you for your support as we Ride Towards Harmony - in our lives and in our community.
Boomer Loomer members of The Villages, Florida
Artemis House received a wonderful assortment of 25 loomed, knitted, and crocheted hats which will be shared with the families we serve when the winter turns cold. These are absolutely beautiful and we are so thankful! A note enclosed with the hats reads, "May each stitch be a prayer for your well-being and bestow God's bountiful blessings upon you and your families." Thank you, Boomer Loomers for your kindness and generosity.
Spread the Tunes
Rounding out our month of gratitude, we give a huge shout-out to Spread the Tunes, who put together a wonderful evening of music at Indian Springs Gazebo at Spearfish City Park, featuring the Jon Stickley Trio, to benefit the Artemis House programs. It was the perfect setting and weather for friends to gather for great live music, good food, and helping raise awareness and funds for those affected by domestic violence and/or sexual assault. You will never know the reach of your support, but believe me it's more than you could ever imagine. Thank you!
Thank you to Spearfish CarQuest at 320 N. Main for sponsoring a raffle of a 43" flat screen Smart-TV, with proceeds to the Artemis House.
This summer we are fortunate to have four college interns working with us at the Artemis House Shelter. Three of them are from BHSU, and one from SDSU. Alex (BH) has already completed her internship and Shelbee (SDSU), Ann'D (BH) and Courtney (BH) are currently getting experience with a wide variety of jobs. Thanks, ladies!
